“If Latinos sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're going to punish our enemies and we're going to reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,' if they don't see that kind of upsurge in voting in this election, then I think it's going to be harder."Huh. Who knew that 'getting beyond race' meant firing the starting pistol for the race of the races to begin? Pardon me for my lack of PC, but to make a political exhortation to an American electorate, beginning with,
President Obama speaking to Univision
"...If [fill in YOUR favorite race here]'s sit out the election instead of saying, 'We're going to punish our enemies and we're going to reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us,'...... there is no other way to describe that in this day and age, but as racist. It means, in and of itself, that
"We are all racists now, and it's important that the races we like [for now], punish those races we are opposed to!"
I’ve often gotten short tempered at simple dumb, bigoted and/or prejudicial statements being taken and cast as racism... I mean, stupid is sometimes just stupid, it isn't always necessarily malevolent... but this one – from our President – takes the cake. This is not only nominally racist in content, but is purely racist in those 'principles' which must be held, affirmed and believed in, in order to have thought of it, and to have said it.
I now drop those few shreds of reservations and presumptions of innocence towards Owebama which I'd managed to cling to... bitter as it might be to admit, the President of the United States of America, is a racist.
I can't tell you how painful it is to say that.
Enemies?
ReplyDeleteIs this not inciting a civil war?
I mean, he wants them to think of their fellow citizens as enemies, isn't he? In other words, isn't he saying, "No, no, no. These are not just fellow citizens who disagree with you, law abiding they be or not, they are your enemies. Period. And if you don't vote "like this", you are a traitor to your race, which is greater than your citizenship in this country."
I mean, that's what he's saying, isn't it?
You're right, Van. I just went to the ABC article you linked. This is unbelievable. The comments there too, btw, are unbelievable. They are blaming FOX for being divisive.
ReplyDeleteWhat will it take for some people.
It's also insulting to Latinos -- to speak to them in terms or "enemies" and "reward"; like they are a bunch of juveniles.
ReplyDeleteIt is absolutely appalling.
ReplyDeleteAnd though Everyone should be righteously offended by his statement, if anyone should be more offended and angered by it than anyone else, it's the 'latinos' - he just reduced them from thinking human beings, to branded cattle.
Oba is not a racist, he is a revolutionary. Revolutionaries like to start fires and watch others battle them, while they are starting other fires.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that a true narcissist can be bothered with being a racist, since all men are below his class. It may be that narcissist are more likely to be the type to extol the virtues of humanity in groups of one million and more, like Marx, because they intend to lead them.
