An American Transformation: Individual Rights into privileged scraps

America, today your Individual Rights have been officially transformed into privileges. Today the HHS Mandates that you must comply. You have no rights not to.

Today the official government policy is, by law, that you no longer have the Right to choose. You no longer have Freedom of Choice. You in fact no longer have Rights, only privileges, which you retain at the governments pleasure.

Today marks the fact that you've lost the freedom to do what your deepest convictions and most heartfelt beliefs tell you that you must do, or not do.

The Daily Caller tells of one congressmen saying something which I find intolerably shortsighted:
"Republican Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, who was elected in 2004, will join freshmen GOP House members to mark the “The Day Religious Freedom Died”
As I began to argue here, 'Religious Freedom' is being used as a strawman to cover the actual target, Liberty itself. Are you foolish enough to believe that this is simply about the minutia of the ins and outs of insurance regulations? Is it any less foolish to believe that this is only about Religious freedom? It is not. This is about your Right to abide by your convictions, and your Right to make your own decisions in regards to them.

It is about Freedom, it is about Liberty... and it is just about gone.

Even from the fools eye view of insurance regulations, even at that level, you cannot honestly miss the fact that this is not only about the Catholic Hospitals Right to not provide materials and services which violate their religious convictions,

  • It is also about a patient's ability to choose to go where they know that their deepest religious convictions and heartfelt beliefs won't be violated.
  • It is also about a persons ability to choose to work where they know that their deepest religious convictions and heartfelt beliefs won't be violated.
It is about Freedom of Choice - and according to the government, you no longer have it.

It doesn't matter one bit whether we are talking about forcing Catholic hospitals to comply, against their convictions, or your being told that you no longer have the freedom to not buy a car (G.M. perhaps?)... what would you base that upon? Your deepest convictions and most heartfelt beliefs? Against what the government plainly sees is in the interest of 'the greater good'?

Please.

I won't take up space or time here, I've already made the argument in my posts for Obama's Hat Trick and Esau's Pottage. The Right to choose anything about your own life, is no longer recognized in America. It won't be reestablished until we understand what our Rights are, and refuse to allow them to be abridged.

You may still have the privilege to eat what you wish (except in New York), say what you'd like, associate with those you choose to... but you no longer have the Right to do so. You only have the privilege to do so because the government has not found an interest in telling you otherwise.

You should now think of your choices as those few scraps that the government is not too concerned about having fallen from their table.

Yet.

You object to that? Really? What would stop them? Why would they allow you to go against their policy interests? Because it would go against your deepest convictions and most heartfelt beliefs?

Please.

"First they came for the ___..." You can fill in the blank.

Trolls will be fed and booted for free,
at least until they become more boring than fun,
or if they peg my disgust-o-meter,
at which point they'll be deleted,
